Happy August!

Rather than sending a whole new concept for this (often disjointed, hopefully relaxing in pockets) month, I have gathered together some of my favourite recent issues of Practical Magic so you can pick what is most resonant for you this month. I find it so helpful and enriching to revisit concepts and practices over time, providing it is done through the lenses of curiosity and self compassion.

Please note: If revisiting any of these topics brings feelings of shame or frustration, then I would like to remind you that change, deepening understanding, and embodiment, not only take time, they deserve time. (They also require a degree of nervous system regulation - see issue 7 below).

So - please receive this as your invitation to pause, open your heart and mind to yourself, and take a swim in whichever reflective pool takes your fancy.

Working with Your Window of Tolerance (Issue 7, Apr 2025)

ree

When our usual schedule is upside down, it is useful to remember (via The Window of Tolerance) how we can feel grounded and present within our optimal zone, and how stress can push us into hyperarousal or hypoarousal. Oh and how Glimmers - small moments that signal safety and connection - can support us to reorient and rebalance our responses to stress.

More AND Less: What Will You Create More of - and Less of - in 2025? (Issue 4, Jan 2025)

Before we step back into the hectic energy of September, I invite you to reflect on what you want more of - and what you want less of for the remainder of this year (and of course into next year if you like!). I share my own “less X is more Y” map, and encourage you to notice how small, tender choices can ripple into bigger change.

Prioritisation as a Practice (Issue 2, Nov 2024)

Being out of routine is the perfect time to step back and pause so we can assess what we have regularly been doing that isn’t truly important, and ask ourselves what those distractions might reveal about unmet needs. When we practice this perspective, prioritisation becomes less about efficiency and more about living in alignment.

Chores and Choices – Navigating the Mental Load (Issue 10, July 2025)

Yes I sent it last month, AND it bears repetition. By shifting focus from striving for completion to embracing the process, we can navigate life with more presence, less pressure, and find satisfaction in the small wins.

I hope you find something here that is just what you need. And if not, or if you need more, there is a whole back catalog on my website.

As always, I would love to hear from you, and am wishing you every good thing under the golden summer sun.

Best,

Freya
